Following an ongoing narcotics investigation, officers from the Ocala Police Department SWAT team together with other Agents from the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team executed a search warrant at our client's address. During the search, drug and firearms were seized.
Our client was arrested and interviewed by the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team where she made a full confession to selling marijuana and pills. As a result of her confession, our client was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and cultivation of marijuana. Our client was also charged with trafficking 28g or more of Oxycodone. This offense alone carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years. Our client would not be eligible for early release and would have to serve the full 25 years in prison.
Attorney Andy Ingram represented the Defendant. The evidence against our client was overwhelming. Not only was physical evidence seized from our client's address but she also made a full confession. However, Mr. Ingram was able to get the State to accept a plea to a substantially lesser drug offense. Following sentence mitigation, our client was sentenced to serve a total of 7 years in the Department of Corrections, with the possibility of early release.
